Free SHS: Akufo-Addo Urges Wealthy Parents to Consider Private Schools.

The current president of the republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has defended his Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy against critics who argue that parents who can afford tuition should be allowed to pay for private education.

Speaking at the 2024/2025 Annual General Conference of the Ghana Bar Association in Kumasi on September 9, he highlighted the positive impact of the policy on enrollment rates and its benefits for underprivileged students.

He rejected claims that the initiative has led to a decline in educational standards and suggested that parents with the means should consider enrolling their children in private schools.
