Cocoa Truck Plunges into River Near Assin Mankata; Occupants Injured

 

A Kia Rhino truck transporting bags of dried cocoa beans has plunged into the Ben-ne-ben River near Assin Mankata in the Assin North District, leaving several occupants injured.

 

The incident occurred while the vehicle was ascending a hill. According to eyewitnesses, the truck’s engine suddenly shut down mid-climb, causing it to roll backward. In a desperate attempt to steer the vehicle to safety, the driver lost control, and the truck veered off the road and crashed into the river.

 

The occupants of the vehicle sustained varying degrees of injuries and were quickly rushed to the St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu for emergency medical care.

 

As of the time of filing this report, police presence was yet to be confirmed at the scene, with calls for urgent assistance to manage the situation and secure the cargo.
