*Hon. Raymond Nana Ebbah Begins Construction of Major Bypass Linking Adesu–Boakyewa Hotel–Municipal Assembly to Saamang Road*
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Wassa Amenfi East, Hon. Raymond Nana Ebbah, has begun the construction of a strategic bypass road aimed at reducing the heavy traffic congestion inside Wassa Akropong, the Municipal Capital.
The new bypass stretches from Adesu, runs through the Boakyewa Hotel area, passes in front of the Municipal Assembly, and joins the Saamang road, providing an alternative route expected to significantly ease pressure on the town’s inner roads.

A Major Step Toward Decongesting Wassa Akropong
The construction, which is progressing steadily, is part of the Assembly’s broader plan to improve mobility, enhance commercial activity, and modernize the municipal road network.
Speaking during an inspection tour, Hon. Ebbah said the bypass is a practical response to years of appeals from residents, drivers, and traders.
> “This bypass will divert heavy traffic from the central business area and improve movement across Wassa Akropong. We are committed to building a modern and accessible municipal capital,” he emphasized.

Eight Culverts to Be Installed — Municipal Roads Engineer
The Municipal Roads Engineer, Mr. Agyemang, who is overseeing the technical work, revealed that about eight (8) culverts will be installed along the stretch to ensure proper drainage and durability.

> “The terrain requires multiple culverts to channel storm water and prevent erosion. Installing eight culverts will help guarantee the sustainability of the bypass,” he explained.
He further noted that the construction team is working diligently to shape, compact, and prepare the route for the next stages of the project.
Excitement Among Residents and Drivers
Residents along the Adesu–Boakyewa section have welcomed the initiative, describing it as long overdue.
A driver at the Wassa Akropong lorry station shared:
> “This particular route has always been heavily congested. Once completed, the bypass will reduce pressure inside town by more than half.”
Traders also praised the project, noting that easing congestion will boost business activity, especially on market days.
Part of a Larger Road Development Agenda
Hon. Ebbah emphasized that the bypass is part of a continuous programme to reshape roads across the municipality. Other targeted interventions include:
improvement of inner-city roads
enhanced drainage systems
creation of additional access routes for future expansion
> “We are building road networks that will serve Wassa Akropong and its surrounding communities for years to come,” he added.
Looking Ahead
With engineers and contractors actively on site, the first phase of the project is advancing smoothly. The Assembly will provide further updates as the installation of culverts and subsequent earthworks progress.
The completion of this bypass is expected to drastically reduce traffic congestion and improve daily life for thousands of residents in Wassa Akropong.
